The Law of Agency: Warehouseman and Client Relationships

As committed warehouseman, dedicated to improving our client’s performance and profitability through their distribution needs, Hopkins Distribution has created value for its customers by providing warehouse solutions for a variety of different clients and situations. As the oldest incorporated 3PL in Northern Nevada, we provide unprecedented operational and technological adaptability no matter what our customers’ needs.

Hopkins Distribution provides public warehousing and contract warehousing in Northern Nevada as a third-party provider, or ‘middle-man,’ for our clients to their respective clients.

As a 3PL or third-party logistics provider, we are a supplier of outsourced logistics services. We use our own assets and resources to provide our client’s warehousing services and order fulfillment for their individual businesses and customer bases. This relationship uses the law of agency so that we can help with business dealings on your behalf.

What is the Law of Agency in relation to Hopkins?

The Law of Agency is where one person (the principal) authorizes a second person (the agent) to deal with a third person on the principal’s behalf.

We are the agent, you are the principal, and we take care of your third-party needs such as contract and public warehousing solutions, inventory management, order placement, merchandise storage and can offer a 99.997% accurate inventory processing rate.

Hopkins is not a Vendor.  As a warehouseman per our current client agreements, we are hired by our clients to make many important and timely decisions on their behalf, like a good employee should!

There are four different ways to create an agency relationship: Contract, Ratification, Estoppel and Necessity. In general, the Law of Agency is a part of commercial law that deals with a contract, quasi-contract or non-contractual agreement between the principal and an agent, where the principal authorizes the agent to work on his or her behalf.

Hopkins Distribution is the warehouseman to your principal, and we will help you run your business more smoothly as a third-party provider of a variety of different services and warehousing solutions. We can invoke our rights as your agent when setting up transportation for your goods, fulfilling orders, or any other service where we are acting on your behalf.

As an area of commercial law, there are implications and agreements that must be met for the relationship to work smoothly between you as the principal and us as the agent, or warehouseman. The agent (Hopkins Distribution) is required to negotiate on behalf of the principal and regulates relationships between principal-agent relationships, external relationships and principal and third parties when the agents are making deals.

A Longlasting, Successful Relationship

All-in-all, a successful business owner tends to rely on an employee or another person to conduct their business once it begins to grow. In cases of corporations, which act as a fictitious legal person, it can only act through human agents. We are that agent.

Hopkins Distribution currently processes more than 6.5 million pounds of outbound freight monthly, with service to all points in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. Our volume of movement has allowed us to gain the advantage of negotiating very attractive freight rates and discounts for all of our clients to enjoy.

Top-tier companies around the world look to us for innovative solutions that can help them plan business strategies, improve customer service, accelerate order cycle times, and tighten control of the supply chain; all while reducing costs in transportation, inventory, and order fulfillment.

Truly understanding the Law of Agency is just the first step, the second is choosing the right warehouseman and service provider to fit your needs as a business owner. As the acting agent for your business, Hopkins Distribution will help you manage the logistics of your business seamlessly whether you are a start-up company taking advantage of all that Nevada has to offer or a larger company that is looking for product management and warehouse solution options.
